MARK R. PETERSON
Senior Managing Partner, Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law
1600 Broadway, Ste 300 | Oakland, CA 94612
Mr. Peterson, Managing Partner in Oakland, began with D’Andre Law in 1982 as a law clerk. Upon completing law school in 1984, he began his legal career in workers’ compensation and has remained with D’Andre Law throughout his career. Mr. Peterson has specialized in all aspects of workers’ compensation law including claims of discrimination against employers [132a], Serious and Willful misconduct, and subrogation. His clients include both insured and self-insured employers with an emphasis on public agency clients including cities, counties, and school districts.
In this sector, his experience enables him to negotiate global settlements involving workers’ compensation and retirement law issues under the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS), County Employee Retirement Law (CERL), and the State Teachers’ Retirement System (STRS). When applicable, he provides continued representation of the employer in cases that proceed to the Disability Retirement Board—extending through trials at the administrative law judge level.
By handling both the workers’ compensation and retirement law issues, Mr. Peterson’s clients avoid the cost of redundancy of engaging separate firms. Mr. Peterson also has experience consulting with a nationwide employer assisting with their risk management personnel to evaluate and create strategies to reduce their worker’s compensation costs.
Outside of work, Mr. Peterson enjoys spending time with his family as well as being outdoors including bike-riding, hiking, pilates, and skiing.
